Xbox Series X vs Series S for GTA VI
Both Xbox consoles can play GTA VI. Compare display goals, disc-drive models, storage and total cost before buying.
Rockstar lists Xbox Series X|S as supported GTA VI platforms. You do not need to replace a working Series S to play the game. Rockstar has not published final game-specific resolution or frame-rate comparisons between the two models.
Microsoft positions Series X for native 4K gaming and Series S for 1440p gaming with 4K upscaling. Those are general console capabilities. They do not promise GTA VI will run at either resolution or at 60 frames per second. Wait for game-specific evidence if performance is the only reason you would upgrade.
Xbox Series X comes in different configurations. Microsoft lists Series X consoles with a disc drive and a separate all-digital version; Series S models have no disc drive. Check the exact retailer listing, because buying a Series X does not automatically mean you can use your Xbox game discs.
Rockstar says the GTA VI physical box contains a download code, not a game disc. A drive matters for other disc games and movies you own, not for running that GTA VI code. Before ordering a code from a different country, confirm that the code region matches your Xbox account region.
Microsoft offers Series S with 512GB or 1TB of built-in SSD storage and Series X with 1TB or 2TB variants. The game's final download size is still not confirmed here. If you keep a large library installed, compare the full price of the console and any compatible Storage Expansion Card rather than assuming the cheapest console is cheapest for your setup.
For a first console, Series S makes sense if your budget is tight and you are comfortable buying games digitally. Series X gives you a native 4K target and a choice of disc-drive models, plus more built-in storage on the listed variants. Compare your existing game library, TV, total checkout price and other games you play before paying more.
