PS5 or Xbox for GTA VI?

All three consoles are officially supported. The best choice depends on what you already own and how much you want to spend.

Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for GTA VI. It has not published comparable final game performance figures for these consoles. A platform’s general 4K or 120Hz capability is not a promise that GTA VI will run at a particular resolution or frame rate.

Choose the console you will use beyond GTA VI

If your friends, purchased games and preferred controller are already on PlayStation, PS5 is the straightforward choice. If they are on Xbox, Series X or Series S may make more sense. Switching platforms just for an unconfirmed performance advantage could leave you paying again for games and accessories.

Series X or Series S?

Series S is the digital-only Xbox option. Series X gives you more hardware headroom and a disc-drive option for other games. GTA VI’s announced physical box contains a download code, not a game disc, so a disc drive is not a reason by itself to buy a console for this game.

What should a new buyer do?

Compare the full cost of the console, the game and any accessories you actually need. If you have a strict budget and want Xbox, compare Series S with Series X. If you want PlayStation, a standard PS5 is officially supported; you do not need to assume a Pro model is required. Wait for tested GTA VI performance before paying extra solely for this game.
