Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 as a supported GTA VI platform. You do not need to buy a PS5 Pro just to play the game. Rockstar has not confirmed separate final GTA VI resolution or frame-rate modes for the two models.
Sony says compatible games can use PS5 Pro features such as sharper 4K image quality through PSSR, advanced ray tracing and higher or steadier frame rates. These are console capabilities, not a GTA VI performance promise. The game developer determines which enhancements a particular title uses.
If you own a working PS5, wait for Rockstar's game-specific details or reliable side-by-side testing. A rumored 60 fps mode is not a sound reason to replace your console today.
If you are buying your first PlayStation, compare the full checkout cost rather than just the console price. A standard PS5 plays supported PS5 games and comes in disc and digital configurations. Sony lists 2TB of built-in SSD storage for PS5 Pro, but extra capacity alone does not establish GTA VI's final download size.
Think about your other games. Sony sells a standard PS5 model with a disc drive and a Digital Edition without one. If you own PS4 or PS5 discs, verify the exact model and the price of any compatible separate drive before ordering. Rockstar says the GTA VI physical box contains a download code, so the disc decision is about your broader library, not a GTA VI game disc.
PS5 Pro may be sensible if you already value its enhancements in other supported games and the total price fits your budget. If GTA VI is your only reason to spend more, the standard PS5 is the lower-commitment choice until game-specific evidence arrives.
